Car Ride!

We had to go in search of the right kind of stuffing mix so I took the dogs with me. Well, I took Loki and then Sammy started throwing a tantrum when I left so I came back and got her too :)

Loki’s Birthday

Waiting for Grandma:

Loki playing with his toy. I need to get video of this! He figured it out pretty quick.

The birthday boy with his birthday cookie (it’s still wrapped… Loki knows “leave it” but Sam doesn’t!)

Waiting for the birthday cookie (this is the only pic of them both looking at the camera)

Give us the cookie!!!!!

Yummy!! (This cookie is bigger than Sammy!)

Ken decided we should participate with birthday cake :)

Bonus video!

Happy Birthday Loki

Today is Loki’s birthday! So yesterday we took a trip to Two Bostons in Naperville and got some fun stuff. Loki got a new puzzle toy and we got a BIG birthday cookie (seriously it’s as big as Sam) and we will celebrate later. Loki as always was so good in the car while Sammy decided to break the rules and STAND in her car seat. Loki was also on his best behavior in the store! His behavior has been exceptional lately and we are very proud of him. :D

Camera Case, Pics

OK so I found a cute tutorial to make a camera case on Sew-Mad
and gave it a try. The first one was so bad I had to throw it away. I have no idea how people sew things that are so tiny and my new camera isn’t even that small. The second one is the purple one, but somehow it started too big and then I made it smaller and it ended up too small. I also did the flap differently than the tutorial. I liked how the flap turned out a lot, but I couldn’t sew the velcro onto the case side because the thing was so tiny. So I tried again and the blue one is my final one. It’s very cute! I put the velcro on the body *first* before assembly and then on the flap last to make it line up. I also made a little button hole for the strap. (I have an automatic button hole thing but I need lessons on how to use it, so I just zig zagged like crazy. Anyway, I think it’s very cute!

OH - Apparently the technical sewing term for crooked seams is “wonky” so the blue one is a little “wonky” but it’s functional and I figured out how to do it so that’s what counts.

Loki got a bath. Here’s the before and after. He looks the same, but that’s because Jan gave him an awesome hair cut last week. I don’t know how she gets it so perfect. (They were so soft after they went to the groomer I didn’t want to bathe them!) But let me tell you, he smells so much better! They really can’t go more than a week without a bath :) Anyway I was just trying out the new camera.

I did tons of laundry today so I washed all of the blankets. They don’t like when I wash their blankets because they don’t know where to lay down. Loki doesn’t like when I make any changes to the bed either. He just sat there and stared at the pillows I needed to put pillowcases on. He looked at me. He looked at the pillows. Like, “Mom - THIS ISN’T HOW IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE! FIX IT!” He’s very particular. He gave up and laid in the pile of pillow cases but he was still very concerned about the situation.

Then there’s Sammy who prefers when the comforter is in a pile like that so she can bunch it up and lay on top of it. All of it. And she won’t share with Loki until you make her. It’s OK, Loki was fine once I got his fleece blanket. “His” bed is now reassembled. Crazy dog.

New Camera, More Bags!

My Amazon order came today! The camera I wanted last year went on clearance so I got it. I love my Canon S3 but it’s too big to just throw in my purse so I end up carrying my huge camera case everywhere which isn’t practical. I just needed a small-ish camera to throw in my purse for fun stuff! This one is the old style Canon A series but it’s an 8MP camera and seriously, unless you have a fancy digital SLR, no one really needs more than 6-8 MP. I didn’t get the tiny “elph” because I’m clumsy and I need something to hold on to. Those credit card sized camera are too easy to drop! Oh and I like AA batteries. Plus, this one was way cheaper AND has a better zoom and bigger lens :) It’s a Canon A590IS.

So I tried it out to take pictures of the tote bags I made for the AZ kids! It got the detail pretty well. The lighting in here is really bad so I think it did fine. I still have to try it outside!

I’m off to make a camera case! And maybe a new purse. I just got some cute patterns from keykalou on Etsy!
