OK I am going on like week 5 of this sinus infection. My fever varies between 99-101 and the fever is no fun whatsoever. I go from standing on the front porch because I’m burning up to sitting under 10 blankets with a heating pad because I’m so cold. 4 antibiotics later they are making me really sick and the prednisone is awful. Luckily I didn’t get the jittery side effect they said I might (maybe because I’m so tired otherwise from being sick?) but it makes it feel like someone punched me in the stomach so I can’t breathe or eat and it also leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Oh! And the stupid redbox doesn’t have the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie they are advertising every 12 minutes on Designed to Sell. I just want to sleep until I feel better!!!
Your reward for reading my rant is a cute pic of Sam at Home Depot today. We needed furnace filters (got those!) and burners for our broken grill (didn’t get those…) but we found a website for them so grilled steaks might be in our near future, WUHU! Anyway I think the medicine is making me loopy (or the headache) so here it is:

If you’re wondering why we took her to Home Depot (why not?) she can’t do anything “active” so just taking her out shopping for 30 minutes gets us a good 2 hour nap. We figured this out a long time ago and we’ve been using it to our advantage since her surgery! By the way 10 different Home Depot employees came up to us to pet her so it’s a good guess that dogs are allowed in home depot (well, at least little dogs sitting in a purse in a shopping cart) and Sam seemed to like riding in the cart. I’m not a regular Home Depot shopper (too dusty) but they were nice and it wore her out so I don’t have to listen to “I’m bored” protest barking for a while. You should all know that it did not seem to bother Ken one bit to push the cart with Sammy riding in it. So thank you Ken for loving them as much as I do. He did say she looks like a watermelon in her PJ’s, but she does so that’s OK.
So Sam probably feels like 90% back to normal. That means she thinks she can do stairs and jump up on the couch which she is definitely NOT allowed to do so we keep having to entertain her. Loki is confused because he can’t play with her…. But overall she’s healing well and that is what matters. I keep trying to get pics of her legs but she moves too fast! Her legs are all shaved and her knees have big scars on them (good thing she’s furry!) So, here is a picture of the grippy socks I got her (for traction…slipping is very bad in her condition… yes I know they look silly but they really are made for dogs.)

We can’t forget Loki… everyone keeps asking for a Loki update. Loki is very sad because Sammy has been getting so much attention. We have to carry her up and down the stairs and she has to sleep right between us so we make sure she doesn’t jump off the bed… She’s still very clingy and wants to be next to us or on a lap or whatever. Anyway, Loki is very sensitive and he’s picked up on all of this. Even with a Bully Stick today he was sad there was no one to fight over the “good stick” with (The good stick is the stick the other dog has, no matter what… and they trade on a regular basis… one gets up for water and they switch sticks. It’s a game.) So he has just been sleeping in the closet. I gave in and put his favorite bed in there and he seems pretty happy. See how he didn’t even look up when I came in? Loki lives for dinner, sticks and walks. I haven’t really felt up to the walks so that leaves sticks and dinner.. and naps I guess. Anyway if anyone wants to hang out with Loki, he would love to sit on your couch, eat your food, and get a belly rub without his bratty little sister taking his spot.
