My RIM Blackberry 7230 finally bit the dust and is on its way to the computer graveyard. When I went to the Tmobile store to see what they could do as far as an upgrade replacement I was shocked to find that the replacement the 7290 was $400! No way would I spend that much money on a Canadian handset. This led me to the investigation of the Palm counterpart. A little research at palm.com introduced me to the 650 which seemed to be a killer device. Unfortunately, Tmobile being the telco slackers that they are doesn’t sell it, they only have the 600. Checking eBay I found that an unlocked 650 was not in my nonexistent budget. I decided to play with the 600 and came to the conclusion that while it lacked Bluetooth, extra built in memory and a sharper screen, it would still do everything the Blackberry could do and at a much lower cost. I’ve only been using it for a couple days now, but overall I’m pretty pleased. There are a few quirks that I’ve noticed such as an oversized email bug that causes the phone to lock up but I come to find out from my friend Sue that this is an issue on the 650 as well. Maybe Tmobile or Palm will release a patch! If not there are other clients out there that I will have to try when I have some time. Until then, just remember, when mailing me, get to the point and keep it short!
